I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I received my Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Lindenwood University in 2008. I specialize in anxiety, self-esteem building, and struggles unique to individuals and youths in LGBTQ+ communities and their families. In addition, I help clients address issues that include, but are not limited to, self-injury, identity, depression, grief/loss, life transitions, and communication, as well as supporting parents of emotionally disturbed children.
I conduct ADHD and Executive Functioning assessments for children, adolescents, college students, and adults. Utilizing screening tools and a complete history, I can help determine if ADHD or other Executive Functioning impairment is present and, if so, offer interventions to help cope. In addition, I am able to document the assessment findings for schools, doctors, or others as requested with clients' completed release of information. I discovered my love for helping others while completing an undergraduate internship at Preferred Family Healthcare in St. Charles, MO. There I worked with youth struggling with addiction. I then went on to work at Youth in Need serving in various roles, including my Counseling internship, while completing my Master’s degree. While at Youth in Need, I facilitated groups for homeless youth, conducted individual and family sessions, and worked with first-time offenders in the St. Charles Juvenile Court system. I then took a full-time clinical position with Crider Health Center as a Care Coordinator. There I worked with families who had a child or youth who had serious emotional disturbances, thus gaining experience with an array of mental health disorders. In addition, I worked with numerous schools throughout St. Charles County to help my clients be successful in the school setting. While at Crider Health Center, I also taught an anger management class, F.A.C.E., to adolescent offenders through the St. Charles Juvenile Court. Next, I took my therapy skills into the school setting working as a Professional School Counselor at Lutheran Family and Children’s Services and placed in Hazelwood’s Southeast Middle School. I worked with individual students, whose issues range from behavior problems at school, bullying (both victim and perpetrator), to grief. I am devoted to assisting clients to use their own strengths to overcome life’s challenges. I am dedicated to helping youth realize their own potential. As a parent of children with emotional disturbances, I better understand the unique challenges placed on parents whose children have serious mental health conditions. I love all things Disney, binge-watching shows with my husband, and taking my kids to fun sites all over St. Louis. I also love reading and enjoy checking out the books on the Truman Nominees list and Gateway Book Award Nominees list. |
