EMDR (EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITIZATION & REPROCESSING): THERAPY
EMDR utilizes bilateral stimulation to encourage the brain into a natural process for traumatic events. It can be highly effective in treatment of past traumas; not erasing but allowing a process to become 'unstuck'. EMDR is not for every situation and other factors such as previous traumas, attachment in childhood, substance abuse, brain injury, and being able to develop trust can complicate the process.
EMDR is not a boutique treatment, it is most effective when it is utilized as part of a working treatment plan with your therapist. Sandhill's EMDR trained therapists can work with you directly or can collaborate with an already established therapist.
