COUPLES THERAPY SPECIFIC TRAINING
|
I am a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist (LMFT). I attained a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Truman State University in 2014. After three years working in the field of non-profit behavioral health, assisting children affected by trauma, I strived to attain my Master’s Degree in Couple and Family Therapy from Saint Louis University, which was completed in 2019. I previously volunteered as a group facilitator for the SLU Memory Clinic, where I worked with individuals afflicted with dementia-related disorders, as well as their caregivers.
I believe change happens when we feel connected to the world around us. As a licensed Marital and Family Therapist strongly rooted in systems theory, I consider the context of my client’s lives and assist them in finding the answers they seek by taking a step back and considering the full picture. Life is a struggle when we feel unconnected and unsupported. This is why I work in partnership with my clients to find the resources readily at their disposal, confront the emotions difficult to bear, and strengthen the relationships with themselves and others that make life satisfying and meaningful. I work to create an environment free of judgment and open to vulnerability. In doing so, my clients can find the space to be their authentic selves. I enjoy working with couples, families, and individuals who are in need of and ready for change. With over six years of experience in the field of behavioral health, I have addressed a range of issues, such as conflict in blended or adoptive families, infidelity, suicidality, parenting conflict, life transitions, and general breakdown in relationship communication. I have worked with clients from ages 7 to 85 in inpatient and outpatient settings. Regardless of age, race, religious belief, or sexual identity, we are all worthy of compassion, empathy, and time. I make it a priority to offer these things to all of my clients. In my free time, I enjoy playing music, exercising, being outdoors, and spending time with friends and family. |
