Pam is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a K-12 Certified School Counselor with over 26 years of experience working with children and families in a variety of settings. She completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia and her master’s degree in professional counseling from Lindenwood University. Pam then returned to Lindenwood University and completed coursework to become certified in K-12 school counseling.
Pam's therapeutic style is non-judgmental and strengths-based, and she determines the therapeutic approach based on each individual client and family's needs. Pam use's a variety of approaches including art therapy, play therapy techniques, solution-focused, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy. She understands the therapeutic relationship is very important, and strives to make sure all client’s feel safe and valued. Because of this, her technique uses a variety of creative approaches to help both children, teens, and young adults to share obstacles to their wellness and to problem-solve toward solutions. Pam discovered that she wanted to help others when she was in high school when she started reading about a special education teacher that worked with abused children and children diagnosed with emotional disorders. This interest led her to obtain a degree in psychology and to begin working for the Children's Division right after college. During her 12 years there, she gained a vast amount of experience regarding collaborating with parents to help their children succeed and feel safe. Since then, Pam has worked in community mental health and private practice and for 8 years as a school counselor in the Wentzville School District. She has served a variety of ages and has provided individual, group, and family counseling. Pam is very familiar with school policies and procedures and the process to pursue specialized services (504’s and IEP’s) for students. Pam currently provides a consultative service of ADHD and executive functioning assessments at Sandhill and has provided counseling and assessment services through Compass Health network. At Compass, Pam provided crisis services, assessment, individual and family therapy. She has worked with a variety of ages and cultures and values diversity and treating everyone as a unique individual with strengths and challenges that should be valued and treated with respect and dignity. In her spare time, Pam enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. As a family they enjoy watching movies, playing games, traveling and doing pretty much anything together. In her spare time she also enjoys genealogy, reading, spending time in nature, and doing puzzles. |
