Lisa is a licensed clinical social worker and a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). She received her Master of Science degree in Social Work from St. Louis University in 1990. Lisa specializes in therapy with couples, adults and children. Lisa helps couples and individuals address issues that include, but are not limited to, effective communication, building up relationships, anxiety, depression, grief /loss, life transitions, anger, parenting, inattention, hyperactivity, and conflict resolution.
Lisa is committed to assisting clients identify and achieve their goals through the use of empathy, understanding, and knowledge gained from her years of professional and personal life experiences. Lisa believes in a strength-based approach that incorporates techniques from mindfulness work, systems theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy to empower positive changes in couples and individuals. Lisa began her career at a wonderful agency called Kids in the Middle (KITM) helping children and families cope with the difficulties of separation and divorce. In her 8 years at KITM, she facilitated groups for children and adults and conducted family therapy sessions as well as individual therapy sessions. She also taught single parenting classes through the St. Louis City Courts and facilitated training for teachers and school counselors to run grief support groups for children in their schools. Lisa has been a guest on several radio programs and TV news programs to share information on the effects of divorce on children. Lisa continued her career working as a crisis counselor for Crider Center for Mental Health where she was contracted with the Wentzville School District to provide in-home family therapy as well as individual and group therapy with early childhood and elementary aged children. Lisa was also trained in the Common Sense Parenting program. Lisa then joined the staff of St. Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute where she added working with individual adults with anxiety and depression issues as well as couples therapy to her areas of expertise. In 2009, Lisa and current owner, Monica Lieser, created Sandhill Counseling and Consultation, LLC. Lisa appreciates being invited to assist couples and individuals with their life journeys and is constantly impressed with her clients’ courage to work toward positive changes in their lives. Lisa enjoys spending time with her husband and children, playing games, watching movies, going to sporting events or just enjoying nature. Singing is another passion of Lisa's, she puts this passion to good use when she sings with her band or at her church. |
