Hello, and thank you so much for clicking on my link to learn more about me and the work I do. My name is Lisa Eaton, and I am a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Missouri with over 30 years of experience in the mental health field. My view of therapy is fairly simple: a confidential and supportive space to help you understand yourself better in order to make the choices you feel good about and to enhance your connections with others. I believe my job is to create a safe and supportive space for you to work on your
hopes and dreams for your life. I do this by listening and being genuinely interested in what you want for yourself and for your relationships. We are built for connection and I feel honored and blessed to be invited into each client’s journey. My work is influenced by my years of professional and personal experiences and especially by the needs and wants you bring into the therapy room. I use empathy, understanding, and acceptance in a non-judgmental environment. I believe in a strength-based approach that incorporates techniques from mindfulness work, Client-Centered Therapy, Systems Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and the Gottman Method Couples Therapy to empower positive changes for couples and individuals. I began my career at Kids in the Middle (KITM), helping children and families cope with the challenges of separation and divorce. In my 8 years at KITM, I facilitated therapy groups for children and adults, taught single parenting classes through the St. Louis City Courts, and trained teachers and school counselors to run support groups in their schools. I then moved on to work for Crider Center for Mental Health (currently Compass Health) as a crisis counselor and early childhood social worker in the Wentzville School District. After my work at Crider Center, I joined the staff at St. Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute, where my work expanded to adult individual therapy and couples therapy. In 2009, Monica Lieser and myself co-founded Sandhill Counseling and Consultation to create a beautiful space for individuals, couples, and families to work with skilled and caring therapists. I am constantly impressed by our clients’ courage and determination to make positive changes in their lives. In my time outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family playing games, hiking, camping, sitting around the fire pit, watching and/or playing sports (especially volleyball), and taking trips to the beach. My church community is another big part of my life, and I help lead a bi-annual women’s retreat that focuses on healthy eating, functional movement, spiritual and emotional health. I also really enjoy music and singing, so I am part of the music ministry team at my church. |
