Katie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a member of National Association of Social Workers (NASW). She received her Masters in Social Work in 2012 from University of Missouri- Columbia. Katie specializes in therapy with adults, children, adolescents, and couples. Katie assists adults and couples in focusing on anxiety, communication skills, coping skills, depression, grief, relationship concerns, work stress, and women's issues. Katie is dedicated to helping Clients recognize and accomplish their goals by utilizing a strengths based approach and utilizing techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
Katie began her career as a Social Worker in nursing homes which provides a unique skill set. Katie helped many individuals cope with loss of independences, changing family dynamics, and grief of lost loved ones. Additionally, Katie has aided adult children and spouses in processing their worries regarding their ill family members and newfound caregiver roles. She has facilitated groups for the Alzheimer's Association and organized educational seminars for family members on a variety of topics, including Dementia disease process and coping with grief. Katie strives to guide individuals in truly understanding life changes and building stronger relationships with their loved ones. Katie is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which focuses on changing automatic negative thoughts and uses a goal-oriented approach. In her free time, Katie enjoys spending time with her husband, three children, and two dogs. She enjoys reading, gardening, and doing puzzles. She also likes to go to the ballet and musicals with her daughter. She spends time volunteering and organizing social events for her subdivision. |
