I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Maryville University in 2006 and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Webster University in 2014. I have experience working with families and children with a wide range of concerns. For the first 10 years of my career, I worked for social services agencies that provided support and services to children and their families. I have been licensed as a mental health counselor since 2015. I have worked in an elementary school setting and worked within an intensive in-home treatment model. I have experience with navigating the educational system and have worked closely with school staff to ensure that my client’s social, emotional, and academic needs are being met. I have worked with all ages of children and adolescents, ranging from age 4 to 19.
I utilize client-centered and family systems approaches with children and families. I believe that children and families benefit the most when concerns are addressed from a family systems perspective, which looks at family functioning as a whole, instead of looking for quick fixes for concerning child behaviors. Additionally, I use play therapy techniques, teach mindful meditation techniques, and other expressive therapy techniques to promote client growth, expression, and emotion regulation. During my free time, I enjoy walking or riding my bike in my neighborhood, working in my garden, and going to the Missouri Botanical Garden for inspiration; especially when the weather is nice. I am a lover of coffee and tea. I enjoy visiting the many local coffee and tea shops that are located in my neighborhood. Additionally, taking yoga or tap dance classes are my favorite ways to take care of myself and relieve stress. |
