Wava is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Missouri specializing in individual, child and family therapy. Wava graduated with an Undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Graduate degree in Counseling and Clinical Psychology. She has training in functional nutritional, naturopathic therapies, play therapy and herbalism. She has worked extensively with children with behavioral concerns, developmental disabilities, sensory integration concerns as well as mood disorders and inattentiveness. Wava has experience implementing multiple therapeutic strategies such as DBT and CBT but prefers a functional approach to treatment when applicable.
Through integrative and functional approaches, Wava works to both build a relationship with her clients while supporting her clients overall health goals as well as provide a therapeutic partnership that focuses on education, empowerment and root cause results. Specializing in working with children and families for over 15 years, Wava continues to provide services that help children and adolescents improve their lives and relationships with families and friends while feeling good about themselves and feeling supported. We work together from start to finish, to understand and cope with the significant concerns that prevent an individual from feeling like he or she is able to function. Over the many years of working with youth, commonalities emerged that contributed to Wava researching and seeking alternative approaches to therapy that have shown efficacy in acute care and long-term effectiveness through lifestyle modification and self-empowerment. These approaches are representative of a holistic and natural perspective to health and well-being and impact physiological health as well as mental health. This functional approach utilizes historical modalities of treatment as well as new scientific elements. Wava is excited to be able to implement functional and integrative strategies to her practice as a mental health practitioner. Education and knowledge is key to well-being and functioning. Therefore, Wava is always seeking to provide educational resources to parents, individuals and even children. Those who are armed with the knowledge and strategies for growth are more likely to grow. This is implemented in her practice through nutrition, stress resilience training, focal training, mindfulness, college preparation and even physiology. Mental Health conditions are directly impacted by the interconnected web of our lives from nutrient deficiencies to trauma to environmental epigenetic triggers. Reasons to consider working with Wava may include: you feel like your specific story is not being heard, you feel like there is more to the situation than others are telling you, you feel like you have tried everything, and nothing works, you are looking for treatment that improves your quality of life, or you feel like you aren’t being taken seriously. Other reasons could be you feel like medication isn’t helping, you aren’t sure where to turn for helping yourself or your child, you want a better relationship with your child, or you are worried about your child’s future. |
