Relationships are the most important part of the healing process. Rooted in attachment theory, Sarah has over 10 years of experience working with children and youth with severe behaviors, attachment injuries, anxiety, and trauma. She has worked in a wide range of settings including inpatient psychiatric hospitals, private and public schools, early childhood education, and most recently as a clinical therapist within a community mental health agency. Sarah passionately utilizes play therapy and attachment interventions to address behavioral challenges and trauma.
Along with therapy services, Sarah provides families insight and education on neuroscience in an approachable way that helps them understand their child's behaviors, while also building skills to address the difficult behaviors. Sarah actively works with the caregivers to help apply that knowledge in an intentional and effective way. Parents often call Sarah thoughtful, validating, and empowering. Using an attachment approach, she leads children and their families to a greater place of understanding and connection. Additionally, Sarah has extensive training in play therapy including Level 1 Theraplay, Beyond Behaviors, Child Centered Play Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy, Interpersonal Neurobiology, First Play, AutPlay, Synergetic Play Therapy, Trauma Informed Yoga for Children and Conscious Discipline. She is excited to be completing her Registered Play Therapy certification. |
