Monica is a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist and a Licensed Professional Counselor. She is a Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. Monica received her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Western Michigan University in 2004.
Monica's clinical experience includes individual therapy as well as couple and family therapy in the areas of, but is not limited to, anxiety and depression issues, grief/loss, sexuality, and life transitions. She specializes in couple and family therapy including communication skills, intimacy and sexuality, parenting, infidelity, sexual addictions, and healthy relationship skills. In 2014 Monica co-authored a book titled, 14 Days of Foreplay. The book invites couples to increase emotional and physical intimacy through playful "gestures of intention". With her co-author, Monica can be found guest speaking about the book and participating in book signings. Monica also enjoys offering workshops and guest speaking to the community and to colleagues. Guest speaking topics have included: ethics of owning a private practice, sexuality for couples, staying emotionally and sexually connected while being business partners, and various topics related to Collaborative Law specific to Coaching. Monica has also been an invited contributor for Men's Health Magazine. Monica loves gardening, book club, and folk rock music. She is passionate about raising her children to be kind persons and "outside of the box" thinkers. Monica is the Founder of and Sandhill Counseling & Consultation the Director of Operations for Sandhill in Missouri. She currently on sabbatical from clinical work. |
