Melissa Maer received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, with a minor in Sociology, from Maryville University in St. Louis. She received her Master of Arts degree from Lindenwood University in Professional Counseling in 2022.
As an intern, Melissa worked extensively with the LGBTQ community. Her experience also included working with transgender youth. During her experience as an intern, Melissa facilitated individual and family sessions. In those sessions, she worked with individuals and families facing issues of: anxiety, depression, life transitions, trauma, and gender dysphoria. As a proud member of the LGBTQ community, Melissa believes that she is able to display empathy and understand the issues that an individual of that community may face. Melissa understands that the therapeutic relationship is the most important part of counseling. Her goal is to provide a safe, supportive atmosphere that allows her clients to be their authentic selves. Melissa aims to provide an environment that allows her clients to process the issues that bring them to counseling. She tailors her therapeutic approach to each individual client, their needs, and their goals for counseling. In her free time, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Some of her hobbies include: swimming, reading, and playing video games. |
