Jamie is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Southern Illinois University in 2005. She received her Master of Arts in Counseling at Saint Louis University in 2008.
Jamie believes that developing an authentic, positive relationship and utilizing client strengths is the key to creating positive change in life. Providing a safe place for clients to be heard and validated, while empowering them to find solutions that work in their daily life allows individuals to conquer the most difficult challenges they may encounter. Jamie has worked in a variety of settings beginning with crisis work and community mental health. She then spent five years working for a non-profit; serving individuals across the life span working on issues ranging from confidence and self-esteem building with adolescents, attachment issues with foster and adopted children, and depression and bipolar disorders in adults. In this setting, Jamie worked with individuals, families, and couples. Jamie’s most recent experience has been working in elementary schools in Hazelwood, where she found the fast pace and energy of the students contagious. She worked on a wide variety of issues, including but not limited to, self-regulation, social skills, anger management, trauma, and bullying. In the schools, Jamie built relationships with students, staff, and families, and served as an unwavering advocate for her clients. She provided presentations for staff and students on mindfulness and calming strategies. She developed a morning program focused on creating community, cooperation, and mindfulness in the classroom. Jamie enjoys working with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, and situational stressors. Through the process of empowering women and men to recognize their innate strengths, beauty, and full selves, individuals are more able to live authentically in their daily life. Acknowledging and working to create balance with all life’s demands (family, work, parenting, etc.), she helps clients recognize long-standing internal dialogues related to gender stereotypes, family and societal expectations that contribute to distress. Allowing space for this type of reflection allows individuals to live more peaceful lives and engage more genuinely with the individuals and world around them. Jamie loves spending time with her daughters and husband when she isn’t at work. As a family, they enjoy spending time outdoors, cooking, watching movies, and having game nights. When she finds time by herself Jamie enjoys a good book or nice hike in the woods. |
