The Clinical Therapist Internship Program at Sandhill Counseling & Consultation is committed to providing a formal training experience under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Counselor. Our goal is to provide interns with current evidence-based research and practices to increase competency and contributions to professional mental health services to the public. Clinical Interns will be matched with a supervisor while integrated into our clinical team to help improve each other’s experiences through productive ideas and unique perspectives. The next Graduate Student Clinical Internship begins January 2022. The next Post-Graduate Clinical Internship begins January 2023.
TRAINING STRUCTURE
The Graduate Student Clinical Internship Program is designed to last 9 to 12 months based on academic requirements and practice needs. Graduate Student Clinical Interns are required to work a minimum of 15 hours per week under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Counselor. Evening availability will be needed. Graduate Student Clinical Interns will attend the following weekly components:
10 hours clinical contact (1 client is co-therapy with supervisor) *
1-hour minimum supervision
1-hour minimum practice development
1-hour minimum professional development
The Post-Graduate Clinical Internship Program is designed to last 24 months based on licensing board requirements and practice needs. Post-Graduate Clinical Interns are required to work a minimum of 15 hours per week under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Counselor. Evening availability will be needed. Graduate Student Clinical Interns will attend the following weekly components:
12 hours clinical contact (1 client can be co-therapy with supervisor) *
Graduate Student Clinical Intern Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate level program in Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or Social Work and be able to work under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Counselor. Post-Graduate Clinical Intern Applications must have completed their graduate degree in Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or Social Work, working toward licensure in the state of Missouri and be able to work under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Counselor.
