CONTACT CYNDI
Practice Location: O'Fallon |
Cynthia L. Williams, LCSW worked successfully in the business world for 20 years before being called to a career in social work. She had a family and young children when she completed her BSW and MSW at Saint Louis University with a specialization in health and mental health. Cyndi has always been someone that people felt comfortable turning to in tough times and she considers it a great privilege to now offer this support as a counselor.
She has experience in care management, hospice care, and bereavement. Through ten years of experience serving patients and families she has experience working with individuals in a wide range of ages, socioeconomic, gender, racial, cultural, spiritual, educational, sexual orientation, as well as individuals with cognitive impairment or mental health diagnosis. She has a laid back, non-judgmental, approachable energy that welcomes individuals into the counseling experience with a strong belief in the companioning model of care, empowering her clients to lead the way in overcoming problems and setting goals. She believes in a client-driven, strength based approach which takes into account the role of family dynamics, available supports and unresolved past trauma, in a solution focused therapy setting. Cyndi is a widowed mother, and her daughter and sons are her greatest source of joy. Loss of her spouse and several other loved ones allows her a special level of compassion and empathy in her work with those facing serious health diagnoses and grief. She is experienced in dignity therapy, in which the individual is guided on a journey of life review and meaning-making. Cyndi has a strong sense of responsibility to community. She launched a chapter of Modern Widows Club in her community in 2019 which now serves nearly 300 local widowed women. Her faith is a source of self-care for her as well as making time for physical activity, especially hiking local trails. When she is not working, she enjoys volunteering with homeless outreach groups, dog rescue foster groups or organizations supporting women and children. She traveled to Ghana in 2011 for social work and traveled to Nicaragua in 2005 for mission work. She also enjoys reading, playing with her dogs, learning about other cultures, cooking/baking, and traveling when life allows. |
